“From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’”  — Acts 17:26-28

Growing up in the military I’ve lived in over twenty different places from Hawaii, to Connecticut.  This verse reminds me that there is a personal God in control of all things in my life including where I am and when I am.  Each one of us was made on purpose by a God who loves us!

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.’”   — Jeremiah 29:11

This verse is a great comfort to me.  It is easy to get caught up worrying about what is in store, yet we have no cause to worry, because God already knows the plans He has for us.  Plans that are even better than our own.  I have been amazed at how this has been true in my life, and rest in the peace of His provision, instead focusing on serving my Savior where He has placed me.

“Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
— Psalm 46:10

This verse encourages me to “be still” and remember God’s promises. One of those promises is the assurance that God will be exalted. Nothing is too big or too overwhelming for Him, as the battle has already been won through the extraordinary life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ! Even in the most chaotic of times in my life, God has calmed my spirit, assuring me of His sovereignty.

“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations”  — Psalm 100:1-5

This passage reminds me to continually offer praise and gratitude to God in all aspects of my life. His faithfulness endures, and there is always something to be thankful for. His love is boundless, far exceeding the depths of any ocean.

“Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands. How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them! He will not be put to shame when he confronts his accusers at the city gates.”  — Psalm 127:4-5

This passage has amazing imagery! It encourages me as a mother, and now the Children’s Ministry Director to work hard at teaching our children all about who God is and his abundant love for them. As we help them put on the armor of God and hide his truths in their hearts, we can be certain that when it is time to “launch our arrows” into the world, they will be used for God’s good purpose.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight”  — Proverbs 3:5-6

This verse reminds me that God has perfect timing and that I need to trust him completely in all things. What a comfort it is to trust in an all-powerful, all-loving God. The more we trust, the more He amazes!
